GV II

House. C17 and C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay
tiles. 4 bays aligned NE-SW with 2 axial stacks, and C18 range of 3 bays at SW
end, facing SW, forming an L-plan. C18 external stack at right end. C18
extension in N angle with external stack to left. C18 lean-to single-storey
extension to right of rear range, forming a catslide roof. Mainly 2 storeys,
rear end of one storey with attics. SW elevation, ground floor, 2 early C19
sashes of 16 lights with C19 gabled and cusped canopies. First floor, 2 early
C19 sashes of 4 + 8 lights. Off-centre flush 6-panel door with C19 gabled and
cusped canopy. The right return has 2 early C19 sashes of 16 lights on the
ground floor, and 2 of 4 + 8 lights on the first floor. The left return has 3
early C19 sashes of 12, 16 and 16 lights respectively on the ground floor, and 3
of 3 + 6 lights on the first floor. The early C19 sashes have many panes of
crown glass. One large wood-burning hearth facing SW, blocked in C19 with
recessed cupboards and coal grate. 2 chamfered transverse beams with lamb's
tongue stops in NE part, otherwise timber frame mainly concealed by plaster.
