Lobby-entrance house, C17, altered in C18 and C20. Timber framed, plastered,
roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays aligned'approx. E-W, aspect S.
Internal chimney stack in second bay from W, against N wall, forming a lobby
for entrance and winding stair. 2-storey extension to rear of E end, with M
roof, C20. Single storey extension to rear of W end, C18 and C20 extension
beyond. 2 storeys with attics. 6-panel door with top 2 panels glazed, under
shallow pedimented hood, early C19. 3 C20 casement windows on each floor.
Grouped diagonal chimney shafts. Plain-chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops
above ground floor and first floor rooms each side of stack. Some original
floor boards. Evidence of former bread oven to S of stack, demolished. Mantel
beam to E of stack, ground floor, reduced in depth. Winding stair to first
floor removed, but present from first floor to attic. W attic lit in gable,
E attic unlit but fully floored, original rebated boards. RCHM 9.
