Circa 1824 on site of an earlier house. Stucco, hipped Welsh slate roof. Three storeys with plinth, quoins, modillion cornice. Three sash windows in architrave surrounds, lower side windows three light, first floor cornices on consoles supporting pediments. Door cornice hood in centre on brackets and fluted half columns with bases, no capitals. Two storey two window wing.

Listed partly for historical interest as a former private asylum which housed the poet John Clare, 1837-40. The building then known as Dr Allen's Lunatic Asylum, Leopard's Hill Lodge.

Lippithill Lodge and Grotto form a group.
