House. Early C18. Timber framed, faced with red brick in English bond, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. T-plan facing W, with one axial stack and 2
internal end stacks in main range, side stack in rear range. 2-storey extension
in rear right angle, and single-storey lean-to extension to right of it, the
latter forming a catslide with the main roof, both weatherboarded. 2 storeys
with attics. 3-window range of tripartite sashes of 4-12-4 lights in gauged
flat brick arches, with crown glass. 3 C18/C19 casements in gabled dormers.
Central C20 glazed double doors with original side lights, with crown glass,
under shallow canopy. A joint in the brickwork of the SW corner indicates that
originally only the main elevation was bricked, with false quoins, and that the
side elevation was bricked later. Large wood-burning hearth in right
ground-floor room, with blocked aperture for former bread oven. Most beams are
boxed in, but one on the first floor is chamfered with lamb's tongue stops.
Built-in desk in rear entrance hall. A number of early C19 cast iron grates,
including one on the first floor with side water cisterns and brass taps.
