House. C17 and C15 or earlier. 2 storey timber framed and plastered farmhouse.
Basically an 'H' plan with hall, Roofs gabled, porch and stair tower of the C17
and SE crosswing C15 or earlier. Roofs gabled, clay peg tiles. Exterior
remodelled c.1840 with timber casements with single horizontal glazing bars and
cornice drip moulds. Flank of NW wing has one square and 1 splayed C19 bay and
window with hipped tile roofs and 'display' gable and dormer, the windows bay
having false painted upper lights. 2 storey C17 porch on NE facing elevation
with coved jetty soffit and 6 panel door in moulded architrave. SE crosswing
was formerly jettied at both ends, 3 bays with massive jowled posts and arch
braces to bridging joists. Large C19 stacks in red brick, 1 between hall and
later crosswing has 4 diagonal shafts and 1 near earlier wing, 3 attached
diagonal shafts. 2 later C19 stacks on SW roof slope are square with pilaster
strip ornament. NW crosswing gable has original C17 bargeboards and one first
floor post has decorative jowl. Single storey outhouse range to SE of red brick
with gabled peg tile roof and arch headed casement windows and boiler stack. C18
garden wall to N and E sides of garden. (RCHM 3).
