Martello Tower. Circa 1808-12. Vari-coloured brick, made at Grays, Essex, now
rendered. Stone parapet. Rusticated stone dressings to 4 windows and door at
half height. Built at a cost of approximately £5,000. The garrison was
stationed at Weeley Barracks due to the unhealthiness of the coast. Kenneth
