HORDON-ON-THE-HILL
HIGH ROAD
Oxley House
(Formerly listed as Post Office Stores)
Shop. C15 cross-wing, two late C17 or early C18 parallel ranges. Timber framed, faced in yellow stock brickwork, painted on front, rear and north flank. Red plain tile hipped roofs. Two storeys. Three window range and modern shopfront to parallel wing, four window range and door to cross-wing south flank, all windows blocked up. One chimney stack to cross-wing, one to rear parallel wing, both truncated at roof ridge. Internally most of the roof timbers of the cross-wing remain including a cross-quadrate crown post. Probably the cross-wing was originally gabled rather than hipped as at present.
