Farmhouse. Probably C16 with early C17 alterations and additions; C18
entrance. Roughcast stone with ashlar dressings and slate roof. 2 storeys, 8
bays, with outbuilding to south. Ball finials to gable ends. West facade has
projecting gabled 2nd bay, end 2 bays recessed and lower. Dripcourse over
ground floor of 3rd to 6th bays, gabled porch to 6th bay. Ground floor has
4-light double-chamfered-mullioned windows with transoms to 3rd, 4th and 6th
bays; those to 3rd and 4th bays have king mullions. 1st bay has Cl9 wooden
cross-mullion window. 2nd bay has double-chamfered stair lights to front and
right return. 1st floor has 4:4:2:4-light double-chamfered-mullioned windows to
3rd to 6th bays. Porch has 2-light window. 8th bay has ground floor window;
7th and 8th bays have 2-light recessed flat-mullioned windows. Entrance between
3rd and 4th bays has eared architrave, pulvinated frieze, cornice and flat
canopy; 6-fielded panel door; blocked entrance to 5th bay has recessed Tudor
heads; plain entrance to return of porch. 2 cross-axial stacks with diagonal
shafts. North end has 2-storey canted bay window with hipped stone roof;
1:2:1-light mullioned windows with dripstones; attic 2-light window with
dripstone. East elevation has large projecting lateral stack with set offs and
round shaft to south end. Few windows; ground floor has sashed window and
blocked 5-light ogee-mullioned and transomed window with dripstone. 1st floor
has 3 windows, 2 are wooden cross-mullioned. Outbuilding has 2 entrances,
small-paned window and small upper light to west, entrances to east. Interior
not inspected but said to have 2 spiral stairs and 2 panelled rooms, the panels
with 3 moulded sides; cock's-head hinges.
