Railway bridge over River Gelt. Dated 1832-35 for the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, inscribed on panel in abutment arch GELT BRIDGE/FRANCIS GILES CIVIL ENGINEER/JOHN MCKAY BUILDER (dates in Roman numerals), similar Latin inscription in opposite abutment. Channelled rusticated red sandstone ashlar, smooth voussoirs with V-joints and iron railing parapet. 3 large skew arches on 2 piers. One of the earliest and largest skew arched bridges in the country.
