II
Outbuilding, formerly water powered corn mill. Dated 1695. Coursed rubble
gritstone, with coped gables and a tiled roof. South elevation with irregular
pattern of openings, with four ground floor openings, the centre doorway with a
stepped chamfer lintel. First floor overloft doorway to centre. Plain planked
doors. South gable with two w-light chamfer mullioned windows, the ground floor
opening now with mullion removed. Inscribed stone to south elevation reads 'WILLIAM
MASKEREY AD 1695. MWI JOHN SHIPMAN AD 1695'. Another stone with illegible initials
has date of 1761. The roof timbers are modern, and the machinery is missing.
Situated on the River Ecclesbourne.
