Farmhouse, now two houses. C16 with early C17 addition, C19 alterations, large C19
addition and C20 additions. Coursed limestone and gritstone rubble, and gritstone
ashlar. Stone slate and C20 concrete tile roofs with stone gable end, ridge and side
wall stacks. Moulded stone copings to gables on south elevation. Early C16 house with
early C17 double range addition set at right angles to east and large C19 addition
attached to east of rear range. Hall and cottage have interlocking L-plans, with Hall
occupying early C16 section and front range of early C17 addition. Hall has two bay
south elevation with advanced gabled, ashlar fronted bay to west with central 2-light
mullioned window, probably C19. To east in recessed section, flush doorcase with C20
door and plain overlight under C20 porch. Beyond, to east, Cl7 4-light recessed and
chamfered mullion window, raised in C19,with dripmould. Above, 4-light recessed and
and chamfered mullion window, and to west, 4-light recessed and chamfered mullion and
transomed window with top lights blocked, and lower western light blocked internally.
Attached to west, small C20 addition with single light window and door. Interior has
reeded beams to ground floor room and original oak panelling to west bedroom, The Cottage
has blocked C17 chamfered quoined doorcase, now partly filled by C20 window wth 3-light
recessed and chamfered mullion window with dripmould to east. Beyond, to east, C19
addition with glazing bar sashes in punched stone surrounds. Above, to west, central
3-light recessed and chamfered mullion window. East facade of C19 addition has glazing
bar sashes in punched stone surrounds and to south, small C20 lean-to kitchen. Finely
moulded beams to C17 north room.
