House. Circa 1820-30. Stuccoed with a slate roof, gabled at ends; end stacks and
good ironwork on the front elevation.
Double depth 4 room plan with a central passage with the stair to the rear, 2 heated
principal rooms to the front and rear service rooms to left and right of the stair.
2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front with very deep eaves with paired eaves brackets
forming a canopy to the good 7-bay wrought iron first floor balcony and verandah, the
standards decorated with scrolls, the balcony and verandah front with panels of
lattice ironwork, the outer bays with panels of spiders web design. Banded
rustication to the ground floor. Central front door with 6 fielded panels and a
rectangular fanlight. 2 ground floor 4-pane sashes are replacements in original
embrasures; 12-pane sashes to left and right on the first floor; central 2- leaf
glazed door to the balcony with a high transom, small panes and margin glazing.
First floor bell on right gable end.
The rear elevation is slightly set back at the left end, the central rear stair
window is a round-headed sash with margin glazing above a rear gabled porch.
Interior : not fully inspected. The central passage has a plaster ceiling rose and
stair with stick balusters. Other features of interest said to survive.
A very complete and fine example of a Regency house with notable ironwork, somewhat
marooned in new housing development.
