Pair of chest tombs. Mid and late C19. The western of the tombs is an imposing,
severe granite chest with a moulded plinth, corner pilasters, hipped lid and sunk
panels on each side of the chest. Inscription on north side commemorates Montague
Newcombe, died 1869. Immediately to the east a grey limestone coffin slab in the
medieval style has a coped lid with a cross carved in relief and a granite base.
Inscriptions on the sides in metal letters commemorate John Newcombe Day, died 1852
and other members of the family.
