Cottage. Early C19 with late C19-early C20 extension. Walls are plastered but is mostly stone rubble with some cob towards the wall tops and some brick dressings; brick stacks with plastered chimney shafts; thatch roof. Extension of painted brick with thatch roof. T-shaped cottage. Main block faces south-west standing on a terrace in a steep valley side. It has a 2-room plan with a central entrance hall. Axial stack right of centre. The end corners are canted forming pointed ends and the middle section of the front is canted back behind a verandah. 1-room plan service extension projects at right angles to rear of centre. A single storey rustic cottage ornee. Nearly symmetrical front. The central set-back front contains a central plank door with cover strips in a pointed archway. It is flanked by arch-headed windows, each containing a casement with glazing bars and the head with simply-cusped Y-tracery. The full width bay each side contains another arch-headed doorway but that to right is a C20 replacement. The roof is carried across the central recess by a colonnade
of 4 rustic timber posts with with plain abacus blocks and standing on crude
sandstone pads. Roof is hipped each end. The right (south-eastern) end contains a round-headed window; a casement with glazing bars and the head with radial glazing bars. A plain casement with glazing bars in the right end front canted wall. Interior not inspected. This is a most unusual example of cottage ornee.
