7/22 Wheaton chest tomb adjacent to
- the east end of the chancel of the
Church of St Winifred
GV II

Chest tomb. Dated 1579 in memory of Ellis Wheaton. Beerstone asnlar. Chest tomb
with 2 panels each side, hollow-chamfered base and soffit-moulded flat lid. The
south side is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering and records
the death of Ellis Wheaton in 1579. The east end has a secondary inscription in
Roman serif capitals in memory of Lewes French who died in 1667.
