Coxes Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Mid-late C19. Plastered stone rubble probably with brick dressings, stone rubble or brick stacks with brick chimney shafts; slate roof.

Plan: double depth plan house built across the hillslope and facing south-east. There is a front and rear room either side of the central entrance hall and stairs. The principal rooms are those at the front, the service rooms those to rear. The rooms are heated by gable-end stacks. Two storeys with attics in the roof space.

Exterior: symmetrical three-window front arranged about a central doorway which contains a four-panel door with overlight behind a flat roofed porch with moulded entablature and supported on circular timber posts. The window above is a 12-pane sash, the ones either side are 12-pane sashes. There are two front dormers to the attics. They are gabled with shaped bargeboards and contain casements with glazing bars. The roof is gable-ended.

Interior was not inspected but original joinery and other detail is suspected.
