Shop with accommodation over. c1800-20, shown on the 1820 Post
Office Map, with early C20 shop front. Stucco over brick with
concealed roof and wrought-iron window guards. Almost U-shaped
on plan including range to rear at right.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with attic, 6 first-floor windows
altogether arranged 2:1:3. Stucco detailing includes pilasters
between windows; first-floor band from which rise Corinthian
pilasters between windows through first and second floors
between windows to left return and to angle; architrave,
frieze and cornice; short plain pilasters to attic, crowning
frieze, cornice and blocking course. First floor has tall 6/6
sashes, that to angle curved on section, all in tooled
architraves, with frieze and cornice. Second floor has 6/6
sashes, that to angle curved on section. Attic has 3/3 sashes,
all in plain reveals and with sills. Shop front has pilasters
between windows. Range to rear has 6/6 sash.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first floor has 4 window guards, 1 to
left and 3 to right return, have scrolled quatrefoil motif.
Occupies a corner site between the High Street and Clarence
Street.
