House, formerly the vicarage. C17, refronted early C18, altered c1820,
mid-C19 north bay. Some timber-framing inside, but mostly recased in
brick to front and stone with brick dressings to sides, C19 brickwork
to right and at rear. Slate roofs, hipped over C18 parts, old tile roofed
rear wing. 2 storeys. Main east front of 2 wide bays. Mid C19 taller
gabled right bay. 2 C17 rear wings. East front has 2 ground floor box
sashes on either side of a blocked centre one. Band course. 5 first
floor box sashes, 2nd, 4th and 5th having early C18 thick glazing
bars. Segmental arches. Moulded timber cornice. Shallow pitched
hipped slate roof of c1820. Central stack, which is C17, and the house
was formerly of the lobby entry plan type. Right mid C19 bay has later
2-storey canted bay window and some polychrome brickwork. South elevation
has entry in lean-to slate roofed porch. Sash windows. Interior.
Right hand ground and first floor rooms of C17 range have early C17 panelling.
Ground floor overmantel has arcaded panels with inscription 'Virtutis
Amore'. Chamfered and stopped spine beams, cross beam to right hand ground
floor room. Timber framing to rear wall of front range and to north west
service wing.
