House, divided into two cottages. C16 or early C17, altered with C19,
additions. Timber framed with curved braces to front wall, painted
brick and some plaster infill. Thatched roof, brick chimney to RH
of centre, later chimney at LH end. 1 1/2 storeys,3 bays, the LH bay
now No.45 Church Lane, the RH bays No.1 Bates Lane. Latter has 2
eaves dormers, ground floor C19 and 20 front extension to RH painted
rubble stone and brick, slate lean-to roof with gablet over front door,
1-storey older addition to RH end with lower thatched roof, partly
hipped gable with modern chimney. C19 flint and brick extension to LH
gable, slate roof dentil eaves, 2 storeys, 1 bay of 3-light casements,
1-storey slate roof lean-to on front. Interior:RH ground floor room
has heavy chamfered spine beam with roll stop and chamfered joists.
Central chimney stack is timber framed with painted brick infill.
Oak mullioned window exposed internally on 1st floor.
