Entrance gateway to Hartwell House. Early C18 possibly moved to
present site in the later C18. Ashlar stone classical arch and
piers with rubble stone flanking walls. Rusticated semicircular arch
with plinth,imposts, keyblock carved with cres t, cornice and blocking
course surmounted by banded ball finial, Flanking rusticated piers
with similar finials. Elaborate wrought iron gates to arch and side
openings. Flanking quadrant walls terminating in square stone piers
with plain copings. The arch is similar to that shown in one of the
Nebot paintings now in the County Museum, Aylesbury (Country Life
15.3.79 p.709 plate 8).
