C16/C17 refronted C18. Red blue brick; old tile roof behind panelled parapet. Two chimneys on ridge. Two storeys and attic with three dormers with hipped tile roofs. Stringcourse at first floor level. First floor with five sashes, the lower half of the window second from left filled in with sundial inscribed: "Essex House, 1580: King's Head 1714: Tempus Fugit, 1925". Ground floor with central door in timber doorcase with panelled pilasters and dentil cornice and two sashes on either side. All windows with glazing bars. Interior has much early timbering exposed and some C18 panelling and doors. Rainwater head at right side inscribed RRE 1714.
