C16 or C17 timber-framed altered and cased in brick rendered and painted, much
imitation timber-framing. Old tile roof, large brick stack in centre. Two
storeys. Three gables to front elevation with fretted bargeboards and finials, over
three 2 storey canted bay windows to each storey, the first floor windows having
shallow arched heads to the 3-light centre section. Door to right of centre. Rear
elevation has three gables and early C19 single storey extension with parapet and
one 4-light casement with "gothic" heads. Rainwater head dated 1825.
Interior: Entrance Hall lined with early C17 oak panelling. Staircase has turned
balusters and newels with turned finials, early C18 but probably not original as the
continuation to the attic appears to be. Left hand ground floor room has two oak
posts with roughly moulded capitals and shafts. Rear right hand room has
over-mantel made up of early carving of different periods. Rear left hand room has
good C18 dentil cornice, wooden fireplace surround, overmantel with Italian cherub
figures (probably C19 copies) arched cupboard recesses each side with architraves,
keyblocks and shaped shelves.
First floor front left-hand room has original fireplace with chamfered stone jambs
and oak lintel shaped into 4-centred arch. Rear left-hand room lined with re-used
C17 oak panelling. Attic has exposed timbers including curved windbraces.
