House. C16-early C17, altered late C18-early C19. externally rebuilt
in flint with brick dressings, the right bay an early C19 brick
addition. Brick band course at first floor level, the right-hand
block with dentil eaves. old tile roofs, hipped over right block;
chimneys of thin brick. 2 storeys. 2-bay range to left with central
chimney, possibly incorporating remains of an earlier hall;
projecting cross wing at right end with 2 diagonal chimney shafts to
rear of front bay, the rear bay and bay to right later additions.
Right bays have large C20 leaded casements and off-centre C20 door in
gabled timber porch. Left bays have leaded casements in older
openings, mostly with C20 glazing, the paired casement to first floor
right with older diamond glazing. Another gabled porch at left end.
Old 3-light casement with patterned leading in angle to rear of right bay.
Interior: front bay of cross wing has fine thin brick fireplaces with
4-centred chamfered arches on both floors. Upper room of left bay
has corner cupboard with C16-C17 carved panels and frieze, and
overmantel withIonic pilasters and curved panels of similar date,
probably re-used. Timber-framed inner walls, double between wings
with the left wall perhaps showing traces of former cruck construction.
