Sycamore House II
II
House dated 1745 to gable end of crosswing. Main range with lobby entry plan and
crosswing to east. Local brick with C19 slate roof and original ridge stack and end
stack to crosswing. Two storeys. Three C19 casements at first floor and two at
ground floor on either side of entry opposite stack. Interior. Main range with
hearth flanked by two early C19 cupboards with raised and fielded panels and round-
headed arches with raised key blocks. One reeded doorcase with lion's head boss
enrichments at corners. Early C19 panelled shutters. C18 dog-leg staircase with
closed string, turned balusters, square newel posts and moulded rail. Floor frame of
alternating principal and subsidiary joists laid flat and of substantial scantling.
The crosswing has an inglenook hearth and chamfered mainbeam and joists also laid
flat.
