Standing back from roadway with garden in front. Circa 1725. Three storeys;
brown brick; rubbed red brick dressings; brick bands between storeys; stone
cornice with central pediment surmounted by stone vase; parapet with stone
vase at West end, East vase gone; symmetrically designed front; five windows;
flat arches glazing bars; doorcase with fluted Ionic columns, entablature
with pulvinated frieze; modillioned and dentilled cornice; six-panelled
door; semi-elliptical ornamental fanlight all within rectangular architrave
enriched with egg-and-dart ornament. Tiled roofs. Many fine original
interior fittings remain including two rooms lined with fielded panelling,
several fireplaces and a very fine oak staircase. The South-east wing
is possibly of C17 origin but was extensively remodelled in C19. (RCHM 222).
