Erected in 1602 and repaired in 1716. An outstanding example of the work
of the date. Cliffe and Clipsham stone ashlar. Completely rebuilt by
Robert Grumbold in 1716, and repaired at several later dates. The main
basin has a plinth and solid panelled base from which spring Ionic columns
supporting arches, an entablature then ribs crowned by a Royal lion with
the Tudor arms. Within the main basin is a stone column supporting two
smaller basins. The whole is highly worked and decorative. (RCHM).
