Two statues. c1750 cast from originals by John Cheere. Lead.
Representing male and female gardeners. Formerly at Copped
Hall, Essex. (J Kenworthy-Browne, unpublished survey report for
National Trust, East Anglia Regional Office (1980)). The same
two figures are referred to as a Shepherd and Shepherdess in the
R.C.H.M. (North East Cambs.), p80, mon (3) and Lanning-Roper:
Gardens of Anglesey Abbey, (1964)
