Mid C19. Architect probably S S Teulon. Bedford Estate buildings. Ornate
Gothic-Jacobean of circa 1860-70, built as post office with adjoining cottage,
2 storeys, coursed limestone with ashlar dressings. Collyweston stone roof
with saddlestones and tall stone chimneys. Triple group of gables to No 8,
semi-dormers flanking larger gable with Royal Coat of Arm in stepped dripmoulded
panel; canted stone roofed bay window to ground floor. Gabled break to No
9 with corbelled external chimney stack to right separating gabled semi-dormer.
Two and 3-light mullioned lancet windows. Gabled porch to No 8. Four centred
arch to pent roof porch of No 9 and 4 centred arch porch with drip mould to
right hand. Stepped drip mould panels and small panels with Bedford initials
and coronet. A picturesque composition.
