Bedford Hall
(Formerly listed as Principal Tank Yard Building)
15.10.77
II
Built in a minimum Jacobean style, circa 1855 by the 9th Duke of Bedford as part of the Estate works at Thorney. Architect probably S.S. Teulon. Yellow brick with stone dressings. Slate roof.
The principal facade conceals from left to right an advanced and gabled house (dated 1855 on the left hand return), the carpenters shop with yet more advanced and larger gable on the right, the saw mills with a little turret riding on its gabled front and then the smithy. Rising above and behind the carpenters shop is the water and sewage tank tower. The windows are mostly mullioned and transomed.
