SJ 65 NW WARDLE C.P. WARDLE

3/76 Wardle Bridge Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, circa 1860, formerly part of the Tollemache Estate now
privately owned. Red brick with blue tile roof, 2 storeys, 4 bays.
The gabled outer bays are set forward. Part glazed, 4-panel studded
door with false strap hinges and rectangular transome light. This is
in a gabled porch with timber posts, bracketted head and decorative
openwork in the apex. Two to four-light cast iron losenge windows at
both levels, those to outer bays in gables with planted timbers and
plaster panels in apexes and the first floor inner bay windows under
small gabled dormers with similar treatment. The chimneys reduce at
ridge level above weathered stone band and have divided flues. The
rear (north west) wing has windows which match the facade.
Interior: Some exposed softwood beams.
