Constitutional Club, now R.A.O.B. Hall, 1911 by J Cawley. A
subsidence-liftable timber framed building with plaster panels; grey
slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 windows. Small frame; recessed porch,
right, has cambered oak lintel, with 2 mullioned and transomed
casements left. Upper storey has central balcony with balustrade
under jettied gable on brackets with ornate bressumer, bargeboards and
finial; rounded oriel window to each side of balcony, with sidelights.
All windows are ornately leaded. Quadrant braces in panels. End
gables have moulded beams.
Interior: Hall with dado panelling.
Probably the best preserved example of Cawley's ornate timber framed
subsidence-liftable buildings.
