Bakehouse used as laundry circa mid-late C19 with adjoining pair of cottages circa
early C19 and adjoining courtyard walls. Laundry is elvan ashlar (possibly reused
from demolished parts of the C18 house. Steep C20 tiled roof with deep brick
chimneys over gable ends. Cottages are granite, elvan and killas rubble with C20
tiled roof with gable ends (adjoining laundry to south west).
Plan: laundry is 1 large rectangular room. Hipped carriage shed to left (south
west). Cottages to right have 1-room plan to each but left (south west) cottage has
narrower end of room linked to laundry. Built into bank to rear. 2 storeys.
South east fronts: laundry, left, is much taller and stands forward from cottages.
Symmetrical 3-window front with horned 4-pane sashes. Ground floor left window is
early C18 18-pane sash with wide glazing bars, probably reused from demolished part
of the C18 house, possibly original stair window. Glazing bars have chamfers not
mouldings inside. Flat arches over openings. Doorway to gable end right. Cottages
have 2- and 3-window fronts and each has doorway and window to ground floor with
granite lintels over openings. 12-pane hornless sashes.
Interior of laundry is unaltered with stone floor, enormous bread oven in 1 corner
and copper in other corner. Cottages have simple interiors with beamed ceilings.
Coped rubble walls are linked to main house and enclose a completely cobble
courtyard.
