4/223 Headstone to Joseph Crapp at approx
6m east of chancel of Church of
Saint Mylor

GV II

Headstone or memorial stone. 1770. To Joseph Crapp. Slate monolith with cyma
shaped corners flanking nowy-head. Deeply incised inscription filling east side:
In memory of mr. Joseph Crapp ship wright who died 25th Nover 1770 Aged 43 years.
Alas Frend Joseph
His End was All most Sudden
As thou the mandate came
Express from heaven
his foot it Slip And he did fall
help help he cries & that was all.
The inscription is carried out in carefully cut but badly spaced lettering, however the end result is a charming piece of work.
