casket stands above this on 4 ball feet, the sides have raised and fielded trapezium
shaped panels. The lid has roll moulded border, corner acroteria and shallow stepped
pyramid. Incised inscription to south panel:
This monument was erected at the expense of Mrs. Ann Ingersoll the widow of Lieut.
Joseph Lander Gent as a memorial of Esteem and Respect for her Relative James Lander,
Gent whose property she and her family succeeded in retaining after an expensive law
suit promoted by his distant relatives but which by a sentence of the judge of the
court was proved to be groundless and fallacious.
Another inscription to north pane: James Lauder Gent died 1842 aged 64. Also Mrs
Eliz. Ann Armfield his niece who became the sole possessor of his property, died 1842
