Farmhouse. Circa mid C17 with circa C18 outshuts. Stone rubble. Asbestos slate
roof with hipped ends. Brick end stacks.
Plan: 2 room and cross passage plan heated by end stacks with stair in projection to
rear of right hand room and probably dairy in single storey circa early C18 outshot
to rear of passage and left hand room. The house appears to have continued to the
left and was therefore probably originally of 3-room and cross passage plan. In the
C19 the left hand range was reduced to a single storey and was finally demolished in
the C20. In the early 1980s the gable end of the roof on left was replaced with a
hipped end,to form a symmetrical front elevation.
Exterior: 2-storey and attic. Symmetrical 3 window front with dressed stone flat
arches to window openings and with a high steeply pitched roof. Central entrance
with 6-panel door flanked by two 16-pane early C19 hornless sashes. 3 similar sashes
above. To the rear, the single storey outshot to left has been raised to 2 storeys
in C20 and the stair projection, which originally continued up to the attic, has been
reduced to 2 storeys.
Interior: Lath and plaster partition on left hand side of passage with partition to
right removed. Larger right hand room with roughly cut ceiling beams of circa early
C18. Chimney-pieces replaced. Circa C18 dog-leg stair with closed string, moulded
rail, square newels and stick balusters.
First floor with 2 C18 2-panel doors with raised and fielded panels. Circa mid to
late C17 roof structure, the principals morticed at the apices and the collars
halved, lap-jointed and pegged. Diagonal ridge replaced.
