alterations. Slatestone rubble, partly rendered. Slate roof with ridge tiles ;
hipped to left and with gable end to right ; the right end of the roof is at a higher
level and is clad in corrugated iron. Rear lateral stack to left and probably
formerly gable end stack to right, now removed.
Plan: 2-room plan with cross passage ; the hall/kitchen to left, heated from a rear
lateral stack and with a circular stair tower at the rear of the room. The parlour
to right, probably originally heated from a gable end stack. Probably circa mid C18,
the left end was rebuilt with a hipped roof, and a small unheated room was
partitioned off with a stud partition ; this was used as a dairy, with access from
the hall/kitchen.
Exterior: 2 storeys ; the front overgrown with ivy at the time of survey (March
1987). There is a doorway to the passage, with a window opening to the hall/kitchen
and a window opening to the dairy. Left end rendered with a small C20 addition. At
the rear, the circular stair tower has a pitched slate roof continuous with the pitch
of the main roof. Rear lateral stack with curved oven at the base. At ground floor
to right a small single light.
Interior: Not fully accessible. The hall/kitchen has a slate floor and C19 ceiling
beams. Fireplace partially blocked. The stair tower has a stone newel stair with
C19 treads. To the right, the room has been partitioned with a wooden partition
wall. The dairy has slate floor and slate shelves.
