House. Circa C17 extended in early C20. Slate stone rubble. Rag slate roof with
gable ends and sprocketted eaves. Stone rubble stack on right hand gable end and
stack truncated on left hand gable end. Stone rubble end stack to rear right.
Original plan uncertain with considerable remodelling in C20. Possibly originally 2
room and through passage plan with lower end on right heated by a gable end stack.
The higher room on the left, probably originally the hall, was heated by a gable end
stack, the shaft of which has been truncated. A gabled 2 storey bay projects from
the front of the left hand room. The original purpose of this bay is uncertain and
there is no evidence to suggest that it was a 2-storey porch. It would appear that
it was probably to accommodate a stair or alternatively was a hall-bay projection.
In circa C18 single storey service outshot was added to the rear with a dairy on rear
left and kitchen heated by end stack on rear right. In circa early C20 a 2-storey
range was added on the higher left hand gable end forming an overall 'L' shaped plan.
A circa C19 2-storey outbuilding adjoins the lower right-hand gable end.
2 storeys. Regular 4-window front with 2-storey gabled projection to left of centre
and entrance adjoining to right of centre. Ground floor with horned late C19 or
early C20 6-pane sash to left, 2-light casement in gabled bay and C19 4-panel door to
right. A C20 glazed extension has been added in front of the entrance and right-hand
room. First floor with late C19 or early C20 4-pane horned sash to left and in gable
end of bay projection. To right C20 window and 3 over 6 pane hornless sash in half
dormers with raking roof. C20 extension on left; 3 window front with 4-pane sashes
and C20 glazed conservatory extension.
Interior : fireplace in lower room on right with possibly re-used unmoulded timber
lintel. C19 ceiling beams and C20 timber spiral stair. Fireplace to left hand gable
end blocked. Roof structure not accessible although the straight feet of the
principals are visible and the purlins appear either threaded or deeply trenched.
Left hand side of C17 range not inspected.
