- immediately south and west of house
GV II
Farmhouse and associated garden walls. Circa early C19. Granite rubble with granite
dressings. U-plan hipped slurried scantle slate roof with projecting eaves. Brick
chimneys over side wall, left, over axial wall towards right and over rear, right.
Plan: double depth plan with wider reception room right and another room behind
forming garden front, smaller room left, kitchen with large fireplace behind and
entrance hall leading to rear stair hall between.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical west entrance fron with doorway and window
over slightly left of middle. Round-headed doorway with rusticated jambstones and
arch. Original panelled door and traceried fanlight and original 12-pane hornless
sashes.
Symmetrical 3 window south garden front with blind central windows. Original sashes
to first floor. Rear has original stair sash and first floor sash left.
Interior: virtually complete with most of its original features including: dog-leg
stair with column-turned newel and stick balusters, 6-panel doors with panelled
reveals; round arch to entrance hall and moulded plaster ceiling cornices in the
reception rooms.
Granite coped walls enclose L-shaped garden to south and west of house. Gateway to
south with granite monolithic piers and C19 wrought-iron gate.
Similar in many ways to Merthyr Farmhouse and possibly by the same builder.
