House. C17 (reputed to date from 1604). Random rubble; stone slab roof.
2-room plan with central cross passage and integral rear outshut containing
stairs and small service room. Outbuilding formerly a bakehouse and
blacksmith's workshop attached to right projects well forward. End stack.
2 storeys. Front: 3-window range; all windows in deep reveals, one (to the
right of the doorway) with Yorkshire sash, the others renewed. Rear outshut
does not extend full length of the house; the stair end is curved. Left-hand
end with door under slated porch with latticework; 2 windows, one enlarged.
End door to outshut. Interior (not inspected) is understood to contain an
integral timber partition to 1st floor level. Ground floor with ceiling beams
and bressummer for former end inglenook. Rear fireplace to right-hand room
largely renewed. Central passage screens may be replaced. The stairs are an
integral stone winder of considerable interest and confirm an early date for
the house.
