Farmhouse; now in multiple occupation. Circa late C17 - early C18; largely
remodelled and extended in mid C19, with alterations and additions of later C19 and
C20. Slatestone rubble, slate-hung at the front. Hipped slate roof with crested
ridge tiles. End stacks, with rendered shaft to left and brick shaft to right; axial
stack with brick shaft. The later C19 addition set back to right has hipped slate
roof with ridge tiles; axial stack with rendered shaft.
Plan: The main range is a 3-room and cross passage plan; the lower end room is to
right, heated from an end stack. The hall is heated from an axial stack backing on
to the passage and the upper end room to left is heated from an end stack. Set back
to right is the addition of later C19; this is of 2-room plan, with each room heated
from the axial stack.
Exterior: The main range is 2-storey, a nearly symmetrical 5-window front. At
ground floor there are two late C19 paired 8-pane sashes to left and right; off-
centre to right a porch with hipped roof and 4-pane side lights, outer C20 door and
inner C19 6-panelled door. First floor has two similar paired sashes to left and
right, except the sash to end left which has margin-glazing; single 8-pane sash set
off-centre to right. The 2-storey C19 addition is set back to right; first floor has
three C20 2-light casements. Ground floor has C20 porch with pitched roof and C20
French windows. The left end is blind, with an attached rubble wall projecting to
front, about 4 metres high and about 6 metres long. Set back to left is a 2-storey
C19 addition; at ground floor there is a plank door and at first floor a C20 2-light
casement. This is built into the bank at the left end, with a C20 door at the upper
level at the gable end and gable end stack. The right end is rendered, with two C20
windows at ground floor. The rear of the C19 addition has random C20 windows at
ground and first floor and C20 door. There is a large C20 2-storey addition at the
rear of the main range.
