Cottage, latterly divided. Late C17 with some late C19 and late C20 alterations and
minor additions. Rendered cob on high stone rubble plinth. Rendered stone addition.
Gable-ended slate roof (probably formerly thatched). Stone end stack to right with
later brick top section and brick end stack to left.
Plan and development: C17 two-room plan consisting of hall to right with external

staircase rising from the entrance was removed in the late C20, creating one large
ground-floor room. Late C20 staircase to left. Blocked front doorway to right-hand
room. C19 one-room plan addition to left with integral end stack. Left-hand C19
addition remodelled in the late C20 and late C20 addition at rear of left-hand end,
replacing a C19 outshut. Two storeys with one-storey C20 addition.
Exterior: Roughly symmetrical 2-window front; C19 two-light small-paned wooden
casements with slate cills. Right-hand ground-floor window probably formerly a
doorway (see straight joints below), possibly a later insertion. Central doorway has
C20 plank door and beaded wooden frame. Projecting bread oven to right-hand end
stack, probably an addition (see straight joints).
Interior: C17 chamfered cross beam (to right of entrance) with unusual double-
stepped curved stops. C17 large open fireplace with stone jambs, chamfered wooden
lintel with unusual double-stepped curved stops, and bread oven with pointed-arched
