Formerly farmhouse or 3 cottages; now one house. Probably C17 but
extensively restructured in C19 and re-windowed C20. Coursed and
squared limestone, stone slate roof. Built as a one-room deep cottage
with 3 flush dormer gables, layout uncertain; extended by 3 gabled wings
at back, part built into hillside. One and a half storeys; ground floor
has four 2-light casements and one single light, cottage left has two
2-light at eaves. Each gable also has a 2-light return, right has one
2-light to each floor. Left return plain gable, then half - dormer in
wing. Back has four gables, one, coped, with 2-light casement; at lower
level are four lights; all windows steel casements. Front has 2 C20
glased doors and back has 3 doors. Two ashlar gable stacks that to
right external, one ridge stack and brick stack to back wing left.

Interior much modified, retains in two ground floor rooms large
transverse roughly chamfered and stopped beams carrying chamfered stopped
floor joists, probably some from C17 or early C18. Back of original
No.1 has plank door in original back wall. One internal wall at upper
level is heavy timber framed, including tie beam and collar; foot of one
roof principal exposed in back corridor. Roof simple tie beam, many
original rafters; a gable interior wall in lath and plaster.
Although exterior much changed, substantial remnants of internal fabric
give these labourers' cottage historical interest.
