Former farmhouse. Probably C15 or early C16, with later additions and alterations.
Cob, some stone, pebbledashed with gabled-end slate roof. Formerly a 3-room,
through-passage plan, with lower end to the right on the passage. External rear
lateral stack heats hall; internal end stack heats lower end; both with brick
shafts. 2-storeys.
Front: 4-window range, all C20 casement windows; porch, slated (to passage) with
conservatory to the left (fronting hall), with French windows. C19 and C20
extensions to rear.
Interior: hall with 2 cross beams, and 2 half-beams, chamfered, the half-beams with
step stops and bar; fireplace with large lintel, and a chamfered timber jamb; plank
arid muntin screen to lower end of hall, chamfered with carpenter's mitres, with one
chamfered doorway - arch jamb; lower end passage screen does not survive except for
1 doorway with shouldered arch; the screens are medieval, the bressumers above have
been added when the first floor was inserted. Chamfered beam to passage with step
stops and bar. Jointed cruck roof is understood to be smoke-blackened. (Report on
