2 dwellings, formerly a farmhouse known as 'The Berry'. C17, perhaps earlier, much
altered. Cob, stone footings, some brick (including all of the left hand gable end)
all plastered. Slate gabled-end roof. Formerly a 3-room, through-passage plan, with
the lower end to the left of the passage, with a rear parlour wing. Front lateral
external stack, 1 set-off, heats lower end, rear external lateral stack with 2 set
offs heats hall; end stack to parlour wing; all with brick shafts. 2-storeyed.
Front: 4-window range; 3-light C19 casement windows to first floor; C19 and C20 2-
light casement windows to ground floor; the left hand window bay is depressed;
doorway to No. 6 (to passage) with porch, Doric columns and pilasters, plain reveals
and panelled door; glazed timber porch to No. 8. Left hand end with 2 C20 2-light
windows.
Rear: newel stair turret with single-light windows: wing with three 3-light C19
casement windows, 1 up, 2 down.
Interior: shallow chamfered beam to hall; parlour with 1 cross beam and 2 half-beams,
with run out stops. Rear wing fireplace with evidence of oven and smoking chamber,
and an axial beam with run out stops. The roof space was not accessible but could
contain old timbers.
