Shortacombe Farmhouse

Farmhouse, early C19, stucco with leads rolls on hipped slate roof and quoin
pilasters with Greek key motif. L-shaped plan with stairwell in angle. 2
storeys, 3 bays. Symmetrical facade. Stucco cornice band and plinth. 2 timber
sashes with glazing bars, 8 panes above, 12 panes each side of central
projecting pilastered porch with Greek key motif and deep cornice. Partly
hidden by gutter. Inner doorcase with Greek key motif and rectangular fanlight
with glazing bars and panelled door. 3 stone steps up to threequarter-glazed
pair of outer doors. Above are 2 timber sashes with glazing bars, 8 panes per
sash, each side of timber sash with glazing bars, 6 panes per sash. Hall has
elliptical arch and staircase with wreathed handrail and stick balusters.
Ground floor room to right has elliptical alcoves and egg and dart plaster
cornice. Interior joinery intact.
