8/55 Moonrakers and Dyers Cottage

Pair of cottages, formerly four. Circa early C18 with C19 additions. Plastered
stone rubble walls, possibly incorporating some cob. Gable ended thatch roof.
Rendered brick stack at each gable end and brick axial stack.
Plan: apparently built as 4 cottages, probably either 1 or 2-room plan, converted
in later C20 into two 2 or 3 room cottages. Rear outshuts may be integral or may
have been added in C19.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Long asymmetrical 6 window front. Moonrakers to left has
2-light small-paned C20 casements on the ground floor with a C19 2-light casement
above to the left, a late C18/early C19 horizontal sliding sash to its right and
small single light beyond. C20 stable-type door to left of centre. Dyers Cottage
to the right has 2-light C20 casements including a metal-frame one at the centre
on the first floor. C20 stable-type door to left of centre.
Interior: inaccessible at time of survey but may contain original features such
as open fireplaces and ceiling beams.
