Farm house. On site of, and probably incorporating, part of Milborne House,
seat of the Morton and Morton-Pleydell families. This was remodelled in 1729
and largely demolished in 1802 (RCHM). Present structure appears mainly C18.
Brick walls, part plastered, with plat band at first floor level. Hipped roof,
with lower courses of stone slates, upper courses of tiles. Brick stacks
irregularly sited, the original ones with panelled sides and moulded caps.
U-shaped plan. 2 storeys and attic, (dormers in east front only). West front
has centre recessed section and projecting wings each end. Single-storey
lean-to additions along centre section and inner face of left wing. Lean-to
along centre section has glazed area, with arched, raised, panel. Panelled
door on first floor, above lean-to, 3 casement windows with glazing bars and
a small plain window. Left wing has, in end wall, a mullioned and transomed
casement window with glazing bars. Blocked window over. Right wing, plastered,
has on ground floor, one sash window with glazing bars and moulded architrave.
Evidence of earlier, blocked, windows. South front, plastered, has part-glazed
door in C20 glazed porch and conservatory. Ground floor has 2 sash windows with
glazing bars and moulded architraves. 3 similar windows on first floor.
Internally - carved C18 fireplace surround in hall. Several simpler C18
fireplace surrounds. 2 C19 ornamental fireplace interiors on first floor.
Some chamfered ceiling beams. One door on first floor with planted carved
