House, now 2 separate residences. Early C19 incorporating C17 building, with
late C19 and early C20 alterations. Rough render with partial boulder plinth
and ashlar dressings; Welsh slate roof with stone ridge and stone gable copings.
2 storeys, 5 bays. 2 left bays early C19, with half-glazed door, in later
half-glazed porch with low gable, in second bay. Early C19 bow window to
left, with C20 glazing including armorial panel and monograms; 2- and 3-light
windows above. Older part at right has boulder plinth, interrupted by square
projecting bay at right end, with bay window on ground floor and 3-light first-
floor window; 3-light windows in third and fourth bays of ground floor under
renewed label moulds; later windows above, of 3 and one lights, under single
wide label mould. All windows have early C20 wood mullions and transoms.
Ridge chimney at left of older part; damaged finial at right end of ridge.
Low-relief cast-iron plaque with figures, over door, has added frame with
legend 'NEW FOREST C17 FINDON Cl9'. Right return has full-height bowed
projection, blank on ground floor, with some curved glass in 3 first-floor
curved sashes. Rear C19 and C20 additions include half-timbered gabled porch;
some late C20 glazing.

Interior shows earliest room through third and fourth bays, with boxed-in wide
beam, and joists with run-out chamfers. 1905 panelling and chimney piece,
with dates 1613 and 1905; several re-used carved brackets with herons. Fifth
bay room has re-used early C18 chimney-piece, bought in Newcastle, with motto
'Think and Thank' and initials A and 0. Roof of these 3 bays has massive tie-
beam trusses, with 2 levels of butt purlins.
