east of Gibside

Cottage. Mid C18 with mid Cl9 alterations. Roughly-dressed sandstone with
dressed quoins; pantiled roof; brick stack. 2-storey, 3-bay front has central
late C20 part-glazed door under tooled-and-margined lintel, late C20 casement
to left and 12-pane horizontal sliding sash to right, small stone head inserted
above doorway. First floor has blank central bay and flanking 12-pane horizontal
sliding sashes. Single-storey rear outshut. Steeply-pitched roof with rebuilt
right gable stack.

House attached to left not of special interest.
