SO 60 NE AWRE LOWER ETLOE

Dwelling, formerly farmhouse. C16 or earlier. Coursed rubble, but rendered
and jettied timber frame to east gable to street, Welsh slate roof. L-plan,
with longer wing presenting jettied gable to street: this wing also contains
earlier jettied wall, complete with window, one room back from present wall;
large stone stack right, near gable, second stack on return wing gable left,
attached stable wing, right. Entrance internal corner of L. Basement under
street gable with heavy Tudor timber framed door. Elsewhere two storeys,
2-windowed main wing and one windowed return, all casements to wood lintols,
C18 sash with glazing bars to gable main floor; small dormer. Interior: two
oak newel stairs - one opposite door and one beside kitchen stack, exposed
timber framing, especially in long wing. Very heavy roof structure,
including wind bracing over kitchen wing. This is an important property
deserving fuller investigation.
